The Secret to Obtaining and Maintaining Healthy Hair

Just about everyone wants to have beautiful, healthy hair. All one has to do is take a look at the plethora of commercials for shampoos, conditioners, hair products and salons to know that healthy hair is in high demand in America. People are willing to pay just about any amount of money to get the kind of hair that models in magazines have, as evidenced by the fact that many consumers are willing to spend hundreds of dollars at a time at the salon (not to mention the hundreds of dollars dropped at the drug store each year for various hair products).

With just about every hair product on the market claiming to give you healthy hair, figuring out which one to purchase can be quite difficult. To be completely honest, almost every hair product has been thoroughly researched by teams of experts to give you the most healthy hair possible. Because of this, just about every hair product is going to do you some good. Different formulas work better for different people, so the best way to weed out the good products from the bad ones is through trial and error. Eventually, you will stumble upon the right combination for you.

Still, there are some things that you can do to have healthy hair (besides purchasing thousands of dollars worth of hair products). For example, if you brush your hair before you wash it, you will loosen up the dirt and grime that would have otherwise remained after washing. Also, if you massage your scalp while you shampoo, you can increase the circulation to your scalp, which can increase the production of your hair follicles. Always condition your hair after shampooing, without any exceptions. Once a week, try deep conditioning.

After you have shampooed and conditioned your hair, what you do next can make the difference between healthy hair and damaged hair. If you let your hair dry naturally, you will keep the moisture locked into the cuticles of the hair. If you must blow dry it, do so using the lowest heat setting (while still being effective). Instead of brushing your wet hair, try using a wide toothed comb. Wet hair is easily damaged, so if you want healthy hair make sure you are gentle when you comb through your wet tresses. Finally, try to avoid heat styling your hair with hot rollers or curling irons whenever possible.
