What You Need to Know about Hair Color

There are many things that you need to know before you set out to change your hair color. Depending on your natural hair color, you need to know certain things that can alter the outcomes of hair color changes.

If your natural hair color is blonde, you need to make sure that you pick the right shade to enhance your gold tones. When going with a blonde hair color, keep in mind that deep golds are not a good idea if you have sallow skin with yellowish undertones. If your skin is pink tinted, you will want to stay from strawberry hair color shades. It is best with hair color to go no more than a couple shades lighter than your current shade. A good rule of thumb to know if you would look good as a blonde is to know that people who were blonde as children have the right skin tone to be blondes as adults. You can always go lighter later, but taking the plunge of eight shades lighter all at once could have disastrous results with your hair color.

If your natural hair color is brown and you want to stay brown, or you have differently colored hair and want to go brown, a good beginning tip is to be careful if you have rather pale skin. When you have pale skin and you choose a hair color that is very dark, you can end up looking ghostly and a lot older than you really are. It is best to start out going just a few shades darker (or lighter) to begin with brown hair color, just the same as if you were working with the blond hair color.

Home hair color kits have improved a lot since they first came on the market. Home hair color kits are great for people who dont have a lot of time to spend on hair coloring, because they only take a few minutes and most are easy to do. Hair color doesnt always have to be permanent, either, and many people would rather start out with temporary hair color instead. These hair color kits are a great way to get a hair color change without the cost and time that a professional colorist requires. Semi permanent and temporary colors wash out in a few washings, and permanent hair color for the most part must grow out.

When it comes to hair color, some people just dont want to color the entire head of hair, and that is when chunking and highlighting can be the perfect alternative to all over hair color. Women with shorter hair look great with both full hair color and with highlights. When it concerns highlights though, keep in mind that because of roots, all over hair color will need to be touched up every month or two.
