Communication skill training is an important step in personality development. You need effective communications skills for every interaction in your daily life. The general belief is that communication skill only means expressing your point of view effectively; but understanding the other person's point of view also means a lot here. Communication skill training may sound like something exclusively for corporate world; but that's not at all true, the lessons you learn from here can be applied in all your personal relationships, let it be your kids, parents or wife.
First lesson in communication skill training discusses about the importance of proper listening. Mostly, when we observe two people talking, we can see that one person is eagerly waiting for other person to stop so that he can start talking, instead of listening to what the other person has to say. You must realize the fact that your communication would have been much better if you had listened to the other person before you start with your points.
The second step in communication skill training is about body language. What you have conveyed through your words and what you conveyed through your body language may differ at times. If you do not have the right body language, you may find it difficult to create the positive vibe you wanted to have. You have to ensure that your body language carry the essence of your speech. Too much negativity or too much aggression shouldn't be conveyed through your body language. Eye contact is also very important in communication skill. To make the other person believe in what you say you must establish an eye contact.
The third section of communication skill training speaks mainly of your language. You may opt for a neutral or subtly aggressive language keeping the situation in mind. It's all up to you to decide on the appropriate language. However, a friendly, positive and cordial language would be the best bet irrespective of the situation you are in. Body language is something which people instantly recognize, bear this in mind at the time when you speak.
The fourth chapter of communication skill training is all about the effect of short speech. People don't stop for a lengthy chat these days with the ever changing fast life, so, short and to the point is what works at the moment. So, try to express your idea in only few words, especially if it is meant for official purpose; however, don't forget to accommodate all your points in the shorter version. Make a note of what you are going to say and the possible replies you may receive. This would probably help you to exude a better control on the direction of your discussion. This method is a sure shot winner in making an effective conversation.
Communication skill training is not complete without mentioning the importance of grooming. Being approachable is what grooming offers us. Tact, diplomacy and poise; these three qualities are very essential in an effective communication. At times, saying a firm 'No' in a rather polite way would solve most of the troubles, but not too many can effectively do this; communication skill training is the right tutor for this.
