Paris - A City Not T Be Miss When You Are In France For Vacation

As the capital of France, Paris is a large city; it sits on the banks of the river Seine and is also known as the City of Lights. Paris short stays of a few days, often over a long weekend are the normal way to see it; with a great deal to see and do that really a week is needed.

Visitors flock to see its many wonderful buildings; including famous sights like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe to name just two internationally famous landmarks. Visitors to Paris as well as its citizens can travel around Paris easily; the Metro underground train network will probably be the main method as it runs regularly and reaches every part of the city.

You can't miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it's over three hundred meters high; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. Illuminated at night it dominates the city's skyline; taking a tour at the same time will teach you much more about this remarkable structure.

If you plan on spending some of your traveler's checks in Paris, then a trip down the Champs Elysees is an essential part of a trip; with shops, cafes, and restaurants littered along the wide pavements, it is a "must see" for every visitor. When you visit this region of the city you will see it is a much more select area; it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.

If you are an art lover you will enjoy the Louvre, a truly amazing museum; with over 300,000 wonderful artistic works, you simply cannot see all of it in one day. If you are an art lover then you could spend your whole short stay in Paris inside; with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa to view in addition to some of the finest collections of art in the world. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists; chances are that you will have the opportunity to see a number of famous paintings whilst you're visiting.

The Arc de Triomphe another famous landmark was built by Napoleon in 1806; the names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city's main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.

You will not be at a loss for places to visit whilst in the city; and whilst there are many more worthy examples, those listed here should not be missed. A Paris Short stay vacation should only ever be considered a sample of what the city can offer; that would require a longer visit as you probably won't have time to visit the Gothic churches and castles in only a few days.
