South of Riga is Vilnius, Lithuania which is the European Capital of Culture in 2009. Surrounded by hills, it is one of largest cities in Europe and is rich in art and history. Tallinn, Estonia is much further north of Riga. Its industrial and cultural routes have grown thanks to its seaport, giving the capital solid links with Western Europe.
